Vila Nova de Gaia is a municipality and the Portuguese city of Porto Metropolitan Area. The city is located on the south bank of the mouth of the Douro River. The cellars of the famous Port wine are located in this county. It has and always had a very strong connection to the nearby city of Porto, not only by sharing the common heritage of Port wine, but also because, in the past, the bourgeois and noble families of Porto have in Vila Nova de Gaia, farms and holiday homes.
The Granja Beach is located on the coast, just north of Espinho, in São Félix da Marinha, the concelho of Vila Nova de Gaia.
Espinho belongs to the Aveiro district. It is the seat of a small urban municipality is bordered to the north by the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia, on the east by Santa Maria da Feira, south of Ovar and west by the Atlantic Ocean.
Esmoriz originated in the period of Roman occupation, when called "Ermeriz" or "Hermeriz". In terms of the built heritage is the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption.
